Javanese

Javanese Cat Breed

Named for the next island over from Bali, Javanese have been around for about as long as the Balinese. The Javanse body is identical to that of the Balinese - a cat of Siamese type with a long flowing coat, the only difference being in the colors.

The Javanese is elegant and sometimes fragile in appearance, but they are surprisingly strong. They are medium sized cats and males tend to be larger than females.

Javanese are highly intelligent and they will even become familiar with their owner's routine. They love to play and many will learn to play fetch. They will also use their paws like little hands to open cabinets and drawers.

The Javanese voice is softer and gentler than the Siamese. Easy to care for, their coats never mat and tend to shed less than the Siamese or Colorpoints. An occasional combing and bath is all that is necessary outside of regular nail clipping.

The Javanese come in many colors. Show colors include Tortie points, Red and cream points and Lynx points. Other colors include seal, blue, chocolate and lilac point colors similar to the Siamese and Balinese. It is said that the Javanese have specific personalities linked to each color!
