Colorpoint Shorthair

Colorpoint Shorthair

The Colorpoint Shorthair is a hybrid breed of the Siamese. Today's Colorpoints have the same body standard of the Siamese, with the only difference being their unique "point" colors. This breed has sixteen different "point" colors, while the Siamese has only four. The color of the body fur is a shade of white or cream.

The Colorpoint Shorthair is a medium sized, slim, refined cat with long tapering lines, very lithe, but muscular. Males may be proportionately larger. While the color differences set it apart as a unique breed, the purpose of the hybridization was to establish cats identical to the Siamese but with separate colors.

Like their Siamese cousins, Colorpoint Shorthairs require little grooming and are especially good in households with allergies to cats since both breeds have little dander. An occasional bath

is recommended, but be sure to let your cat air dry in a warm spot instead of blow-drying them. Brush the fur with a small rubber brush to remove loose hair.
