Chewing Toys for Dogs

Chewing is a natural action for dogs. Puppies who are teething feel the need to chew to alleviate discomfort. Puppies also explore with their mouths. At times, a dog may react to boredom or anxiety by chewing items around the house, like furniture, socks or the carpet. One way to relieve this unwanted behavior is by getting chewing toys for your dog.

Rawhides and other bones help to remove plaque and give your dog an outlet. However, it's best to give your dog rawhides and bones while she's under your supervision because these chew items can present choking hazards.

Hard bones help remove plaque and are non-abrasive. You can choose from hard nylon varieties made in bone shapes with or without flavoring.

Other options for chewing toys include a hard plastic toy designed to withstand a dog's chewing action. Some come with nubby surfaces to encourage plaque removal and help massage your dog's gums.
