Product Review: Crunch 'n Clean Treats
Most dogs and cats show signs of oral disease before the age of three, meaning that owners need to be aware of their pets' dental hygiene early on. But brushing a dog or cat's teeth everyday can be a difficult task.
New Hartz Crunch 'n Clean biscuits for dogs and treats for cats were created to help prevent dental problems, and Petside.com put them to the test! With the help of four cats and dogs, we tested the taste and effectiveness of Hartz Crunch 'n Clean over a month-long period.
First, the taste test. The treats come in a variety of flavors, such as chicken, beef and salmon, and our test pets loved the taste of them all. The dog biscuits also come in three different sizes for dogs of different weight ranges. However, some owners thought the recommended daily serving (two treats, twice a day) was a bit much to feed. But it may be necessary to follow the recommended amount in order to see full results.
Next up: effectiveness. These pet snacks were specifically created to fight plaque build up. They are made with DentaShield® patented technology, which is clinically proven to block tartar formation. Our test owners noticed better breath, but couldn't tell by just looking if the treats were reducing plaque.
Overall, our cats and dogs enjoyed the taste of Hartz Crunch 'n Clean as much as, or more than other treats. Our short-term results showed that the treats helped improve pets' breath, but the month-long period was not long enough to see significant changes in their teeth.
