'As Seen on TV' Pet Products

Gotta love infomercials, right?

From Snuggies for Dogs to Poop Freeze (yes, you read that correctly) to a Humunga Tongue dog toy, we've seen some strange, unusual, and many times practical products advertised on TV.

Here are some of the latest pet products you can purchase while lounging out in front of the television.

And remember, prices don't include shipping and handling!

I purchased a snuggie for my dog and it just doesn't seem to fit properly. I think it was a waste of money.

I purchased the Emery Cat scratcher because I have problem getting my cats to let me trim their nails and I thought this would be the answer. They won't go near it except to EAT the catnip off of it or play with the toy. They won't use it for a scratcher. I think I'm going to box it up and send it back to the company. Too expensive to keep.

Hi Beverly,

I'm a Maine Coon breeder and we've tried nearly every cat scratcher - the truth is that cats aren't actually sharpening their claws...they are stretching their backs, shoulders, legs and conditioning their claws - a few years ago I figured out the perfect solution to keep our 12 beloved beasties away from our furniture. It's super simple and you can make it yourself. All you need is a plastic cone shaped christmas tree stand and carpeting - you need a small rug or an offcut piece or carpet about 3ft x 5ft - roll it up carpet side out and shove it in the well of the tree stand...I stop the top from coming apart with a section of a sock stretched over the end - an elasticated headband would do the same - be sure to remove any screws from the stand - when the rug gets ratty take it out and re-roll it with the fresh part out - you can get two uses per rug and mine lasts about a year...you can see one on our website http://bermudacoons.com/FeedingTips.html - thankfully our cats leave the furniture alone and they love playing on the scratcher we made.

I bought a Snuggie for my Mom's little poodle, for xmas, and he absolutely loves it!! His hair has thinned so badly since he's gotten older that he's always cold. My Mom has a selection of sweaters for him to wear during the day so i picked up the Snuggie for him to wear to bed =)

To libbycook. I LOVE Maine Coons. One of my last darling male cats was a Maine Coon. Adorable cat. Sadly he passed away. My current mail is a MC mix, and he's adorable, too. My female is part brat and part cat. LOL. I'm not sure what she is, but she's cute, too. I have 3 -- the third one is a foster. The two girls don't get along well. I will try your idea. Thank you for your post.

I, too, bought an emery cat a couple of weeks ago and my cat won't use it either. Every time I catch her scratching the furniture, I take her to the emery cat board and try to get her to use it. I don't know how long it will take but I am about ready to give up on it. Has anyone had success with this product????

I purchased the Emery Cat about 2 months ago and my cat hasn't used it once. I, too, have tried to get her to use it. The catnip attracts her long enough to munch on it, then she goes to the cardboard scratcher I got cheap at a pet store months ago. The Emery Cat (I have two) boards still look brand new because she doesn't touch them! Waste of money as far as I'm concerned!

I bought 4 of the emery cat boards with the replacement boards to go with it and all to no avail. I have 4 cats and none of them will go no where near them. I only put two of them out and for the last 3 weeks they haven't touched them. At first they did play with the toy put that faded quickly. What to do? The only thing I have ever found that works is a vertical mount on the wall, not the hanging kind but just a piece of carpet that we placed there ourselves, and just put more carpet over it, as their scent is on it and they seem to like that. But as for the emery cat board it is going back along with all the replacement parts that will never be used.

I totally agree with Joni Adams regarding the snuggie. My son gave my poodle a snuggie for Xmas. It's the right size, but it just doesn't fit properly. Everything seemed to be in the wrong place. Just not a proper fit.
