Marilyn Krieger, Certified Cat Behavior Consultant and owner of The Cat Coach, LLC solves cat behavior problems through on-site and phone consultations for all cat breeds. Marilyn works directly with clients as well as through veterinarian referrals. She uses a combination of positive reinforcement methods, including behavior modification, training and management and education. One of her goals is to educate people about cats and cat behavior in order to prevent cats from being surrendered to shelters and euthanized because of resolvable behavior challenges.
Her book, Naughty No More! focuses on changing unwanted cat behaviors through clicker training, environmental management and other positive reinforcement based methods. Naughty No More! was chosen as the best cat behavior book in the 2012 About.com Reader's Choice Awards. It also won the Tidy Cats Feline Behavior award and Muse Medallion in the Cat Writers Association 2011 Communication Contest. Additionally, Marilyn writes the monthly behavior columns for Cat Fancy Magazine and the weekly behavior columns on www.catchannel.com/experts/marilyn-krieger/default.aspx and has contributed articles and columns to USA Today, Catnip, the Tufts University publication, Animal Behavior Consulting: Theory and Practice, the IAABC journal and other publications.
In addition to consulting and writing, Marilyn teaches classes and lectures nationally on cat behavior. She frequently guests on television and radio programs, providing valuable tips and insight on how to improve cat behavior. Marilyn has appeared in two seasons of Animal Planet’s Cats 101. Her expertise also has received attention in USA Today, the San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, MSNBC and with other media outlets such as KGO, ABC and CBS.
Marilyn is certified through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants where she co-chairs the cat division and is a former member of the IAABC Board of Directors.
