Yoda, ugliest dog who actually won the World's Ugliest Dog contest, has died.

News broke yesterday that Yoda, the mangy Chinese-crested/Chihuahua mix that earned the title of World's Ugliest Dog at the 2011 contest, had passed away.

The adorably ugly pup passed on peacefully in her sleep last Saturday, according to the Associated Press. She was 15 years of age. Her owner, Terry Schumacher, says she will miss "her funny little ways."

Yoda was first adopted by Schumacher when she found her abandoned behind an apartment building, reportedly mistaking her for a rat, according to a Washington Post blog. It was this adorable ugliness (if there is such a thing) that would spur Yoda on to best out some severely ugly competitors in the 2011 World's Ugliest Dog contest.

It's sad when any pet passes. My condolences to the family.
