What Should I Do About My Dog That Became Depressed After Sibling Dog's Death?

Q: My dog Brandy seems really depressed. My other dog Chewie passed away a month ago and now Brandy hardly eats, sleeps a lot and hardly plays. Despite our best efforts she still seems lonely. A: I think that getting another dog may be a good thing for Brandy. It sounds like she really misses having a companion. While I am sure that depression is the main cause it may not be a bad idea to also have a check-up by your vet to make sure nothing else is bothering her.
