What to Look for in a Professional Groomer
You may decide you don't want to groom your cat yourself, or you may simply lack the time to do a good job. In that case, your best option may be hiring a professional cat groomer. To find the best professional groomer, experts recommend the following:
Ask around. If you see a well-cared-for animal on the street or in a friend's home, ask how or where it was groomed.
You can ask your vet, although some veterinarians' offices may have policies against making recommendations.
Ask specific questions - Have you had any problems with this groomer? Have you heard any complaints?
Talk to the groomer you're interested in. You'll want to know if s/he went to a grooming school or apprenticed with a professional groomer; how long s/he has been in the field; whether s/he has experience with your particular breed; whether s/he belongs to a professional grooming organization.
Ask the groomer if s/he is licensed and certified in flea/tick applications (this is required in some states.)
Trust your intuition.
