Video: The Story of Fiona, a Blind, Abused Dog Who Regained Sight

Published March 28, 2012

The story of Fiona, a blind, abused dog that was left for dead in the trash in the streets of Los Angeles and has since received care and regained sight, is captivating.

Her video has gone viral, and rightfully so. The story of Fiona, a dog left for dead in the trash who had gone blind and then regained sight, is a remarkable one that is sure to bring tears to any animal lover's eyes.

After being put out in the trash in the streets of L.A., the dog was rescued by a kind family, the Hagars, who run a non-profit organization called Hope For Paws. Upon discovering that her long-term abuse had left her blind, the Hagars' non-profit worked to raise funds so that Fiona could undergo a procedure that would help restore sight in one eye.

The procedure worked, and for the first time in nearly 10 years, Fiona was able to see, connecting smells and sounds with tangible sights.

Fiona, now 11, has since been adopted into a forever-loving home that already had other dogs she could befriend. Though we're only a quarter of the way through 2012, Fiona's tale has become one of the feel-good stories of the year.

So go ahead--join the more than 1 million people that have already witnessed Fiona's magic and watch the video detailing Fiona's story below:
