Video: IKEA Cats

Cat lovers who enjoy YouTube videos featuring their favorite pet may be interested to know that as of this February, there were 1,620,000 feline-related items listed on the popular video site. With that said, finding an exceptional one takes a bit of searching through this morass of mini-movies. Every so often though, while I am plowing through the huge number of pet videos on the Internet, I find one that is so enchanting and novel that I am never bored no matter how many times I watch it.

One such example comes from IKEA, which has gifted YouTube with a video that is smashing. In a video titled “Herding Cats”, the producers filmed the making of their actual commercial, Happy Inside,which features the variety of goods offered at their facility.

Considered as an “experiment”, to illustrate their theme “Happy Inside”, cat owners, (many of whom are employees), transported one hundred gorgeous house cats to the location. Featured are pure breeds, mogies, big cats, little cats, adult cats and kittens. Viewers even get to catch a glimpse of an exotic Sphynx.

Five professional cat handlers were on the set at all times to ensure the cats' safety.  And while there were occasional hisses and growls, most of the feline stars were content to play and explore as they roamed freely throughout the store.
