The Ultimate Dog Toy
Published December 20, 2010
It seems that Youtuber, lamgngo; an enterprising canine fan, designed the ultimate toy for Jerry, his beloved dog.
In describing his reasons for building it, he said, ""I built the ball machine because I thought my dog Jerry, might like it and that it would be something fun for me to build. So after two years of on and off work, with many safety features such as IR proximity sensors to protect Jerry and my son from the machine, I finally completed it. Far from being a replacement for me, I was always right there with him enjoying his fun. And with all the troubles that I went through to build the ball machine, I still end up throwing more balls than that the machine could count! According to the computer, he played with the machine by himself only 3 times in his life."
And even though this rather amazing toy was not tops on Jerry's hit parade of his favorite toys, lamgngo added his motivation for sharing this video for folks to enjoy. He said, "I recently put this video on YouTube to keep alive my earlier memories of him and (hopefully) provide some "humorous distractions" for anyone that might drop by."
But heck, I think the concept is really a great idea. Perhaps with some modifications this rather humorous contraption could really work.
After watching the video (which already has received over 4,886,158 hits), if you're able to stop giggling, please do leave a comment and share your opinions!

My pit mix Holly would LOVE this toy. So would my past cat, Snuggles. She would fetch all day with a little spongey type golf ball. And if I didn't play with her, she learned that if she took the ball upstairs and drop it, it would bounce all the way down and she could chase it. Yet another reason cats don't need us. LOL
LOLOL Quite a clever doggy and little boy, as well, not to mention the Dad who put this contraption together! Now my Shadow will play "fetch".. when she feels like it....LOL I have to put her favorite "fetch" toys away at night or I will be presented with one, in my face, at around 2AM! Of course she has some of them hidden so once in awhile this happens anyway! LOLOL
If it would launch a cat instead of a ball, it would truly be the ultimate dog toy. Cat probably wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as the dog, though.
My cats probably wouldn't play with the balls, but if could invent something that moved a laser light all over the room, we'd be in business!
That is just too cute. I have a couple of dogs that would love to have this machine. But I don't think they will get it any time soon.
Yep, that had me giggling! It's really adorable.. not just the dog and the machine but the chortle of the little boy!
Baby will play Fetch with a whiffle golf-ball with me, when I'm in bed. He brings me the ball, I throw it across the bedroom, out the door, across the dining room, and into the kitchen. He bounds out after it, bats it around on the kitchen tile, and when he's done, picks it up in his mouth and brings it back onto my bed.
Unlike Jerry, he grows tired of it after 3 or 4 throws. If he wasn't interacting with me, I doubt he'd do it. While Baby is the only cat I've ever had who played Fetch, I have read of other Ragamuffins who will do so.
I love this idea. I once had a cat that would have loved this machine. It could have shot his catnip mousies for him. He would play fetch all day if you would let him. :)
