Video: Amazing Agility Mice

Trained agility mice are stellar performers (note: this is not one of the mice featured in the agility video)

'Twas the morning after Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even . . . a gang of adorable, energetic trained mice?

Yes, mice can be extraordinary athletes. Most animal lovers enjoy watching skilled agility-trained dogs and cats, but they rarely think of highly intelligent mice as capable of demonstrating the agility skills of their larger mammalian cousins. Certainly not this writer--until viewing these tiny Olympians on screen.

I was so captivated while watching these mice execute the tasks given to them--especially their fancy slam dunk routines!--that I would not be surprised if the New York Knicks drafted one of these pointy snouted, slender tailed creatures.

After watching the YouTube clip from Mouse Agility (their mouse-trainer extraordinaire), who could resist the charming mouse version of “Dancing with the Stars” routine, or truly appreciate the amount of training that must go into skillfully riding a skateboard?

In commenting about her video, Mouse Agility wrote, “In Austria, my country, keeping mice alone is animal cruelty by law, and I'm glad it is. But here's another good reason why you should keep them in groups: guess how boring this video would be if I had only one or two of them.”

Enjoy this totally enchanting video and let us know what you think in a comment below. I guarantee you will watch more than once. Learn more about these smart mice on their Facebook page.

This is a great video. I have never trained mice but I do know that they learn routines of people and, like cats, have an internal clock. The barn mice knew our feeding and milking schedule and would be waiting under the grain feeders for the goats to spill grain. LOL.

I love it. I woinder how long it takes to train a mouse. I'm betting they are not the same kind of mice that run all over my garage. Great video!
