Ricochet Honors the memory of hero dog Stacey Mae with a fundraiser.
Petside’s good friend Surf Dog Ricochet is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to extend a paw in service to others, so it is always an honor to share information about the inspirational projects and fundraisers that she sets in motion. Her newest campaign, which benefits Betty White's Humane Heroes Club, is no exception.
The new fundraiser Surf Dog Ricochet is hosting is a touching tribute to Stacey Mae, another very special hero dog who passed away last Saturday on the night of the second American Humane Association annual Hero Dog Awards dinner. Ricochet and Stacey Mae met when they both received awards at the 2011 American Humane Association Hero Dog event and shared a special bond since that time.
Ricochet was dolled up to the “nines” in her fancy Red Carpet Dress last Saturday night while attending the second annual American Humane Association's Hero Dog Awards, but just as the dinner got started, Ricochet heard the devastating news about Stacey Mae's death. She was both shocked and deeply saddened.
Stacey Mae was at home with her guardian, Maria Mandel, at the time of the awards ceremony. Maria tried valiantly to save her beloved dog’s life but, sadly, could not..
Ricochet originally was planning to auction off the Red Carpet Dress with the proceeds going to charity. But in light of Stacey’s passing, she felt that the proper way to give tribute to her friend was to host a fundraiser in her memory. Since they shared the bond of both being hero dogs, she felt the perfect beneficiary was The American Humane Association (AHA).
According to Judy Fridono, Ricochet's guardian, Betty White "shrieked in delight" the moment Judy told her that Ricochet's dress was made to raise funds for animals in need. And Ricochet knew that the perfect AHA campaign to support would be Betty White's Humane Heroes Club.
What makes this particular campaign truly spectacular is that Betty White will match up to $25,000 in donations to this fund. This incredible surf dog's goal is raising the entire $25,000 so Betty can match it with the other $25,000 (which meets Betty's goal while at the same time honors Stacey and helps animals).
All contributions to Betty White's Humane Heroes Club will benefit the AHA's Red Star Rescue teams across the country. Red Star Rescue teams provide emergency food, first aid, shelter and adoption to all animals affected by natural disasters and other catastrophic events. For more information and to donate visit the Red Carpet Dress Fundraiser.
Through a random drawing, all donors will get an opportunity to win Ricochet's dress which was specifically made to raise funds through an auction. Additionally, all donors will have a chance at winning the boa that Stacey Mae wore on Rodeo Drive during the 2011 Hero Dog Awards.
While Ricochet strongly misses her canine companion, she is comforted by knowing that this fundraiser, along with Betty White’s kind matching donations, will pay tribute to an outstanding hero dog and help countless animals in need. Her heart goes out to Stacey Mae’s family during this extremely difficult time.
