PetSmart's Valentine Gifts Help Needy Animals

PetSmart's Luv-A-Pet collection

Our two Oriental Shorthair kitties, Sir Hubble Pinkerton and Dr.Hush Puppy, started looking over my shoulder the other day, while I was surfing the Internet to find a Valentine’s Day gift my husband Marty would truly appreciate.

But after I found the perfect present and completed the order, Sir Hubble Pinkerton sat down on the keyboard; glaring at me before I could shut down my computer.  Dr. Hush Puppy proceeded to jump on my shoulder and started shouting into my ear,  “Have you forgotten something . . . what about us?”

I must admit that I have never considered getting Valentine’s Day presents for our cats. We give them a plethora of holiday gifts, celebrate their birthdays and spoil them abundantly with fascinating toys and special treats throughout the year. To say that I was embarrassed would be a huge understatement, especially because I had no idea that they would feel left out by what might seem to them as an egregious oversight.  I began immediately to look for a way to rectify the situation.

Whether it was by coincidence or just an unexpected gift from the gods, when I opened my email, much to my relief, I found a message from a dear friend about some exciting and clever Valentine’s Day gifts for our furry four-legged companions.

Since I greatly appreciate what PetSmart does to help save homeless pets, was thrilled to read about PetSmart's fabulous Luv-A-Pet collection the company created for Valentine's Day cat and dog clothing and toys to get kitties purring and dogs wagging their tails.

But, as far as I am concerned, the icing on the cake that makes these gifts even sweeter; not only will pets love these items, but once they find out that in order to help save homeless pets, the company will be donating 10 percent of the sales of these items to PetSmart Charities in the United States and Canada; it’s sure to make our all of furry companions a lot happier.

This is the first time ever that the Luv-a-Pet line Luv-a-Pet  is being offered beyond the holiday season. Naturally these items were created to tickle the fancy of both pet pawrents and their fur-kids. Some of these items include Pink and Heart Shaped Cat Toys, Bow Tie Themed Dog Socks, Animal Dog Toys with Heart Bellies, Caterpillar and Bug Dog Toys and Heart and Arrow Themed Hair Bows.

It goes without saying that Sir Hubble Pinkerton and Dr. Hush Puppy will now get their Valentine’s Day present; Pink and Heart Shaped Cat Toys. But please help to keep their gifts a well- guarded secret by not telling them about it.

So, if you are planning to shower your pet with Valentine’s Day presents, my opinion is this special Luv-a Pet line is a pretty doggone and felineist win-win situation for all concerned!

I was unaware fo feline abuse by this company as well. I do know they tend to advertise dog adoptions more than cat adoption, though. But the local PetsMart here does have both a cat adoption and a dog adoption program. I don't shop at PetsMart though because there is family owned pet store here locally and I prefer to give my money to "mom and pop" stores whenever possible. :)

Wow, I shop at Petsmart a LOT spending over one hundred dollars a week. I have never known them to abuse any animal or shove any animal down the public's throat. In fact, they have an adoption program every Saturday and place MANY cats and dogs in forever loving homes. So whether it is Valentines Day, or election day, I will continue to support their efforts.

I will not buy one thing from this corporation as long as they abuse cats and as long as they shove dogs down the public's throats via their ads. All my money -- and it's considerable -- goes to their competition, with pride.
