World's Ugliest Dog Dies: Petside

We'll start this week's Petside Digest off with a bit of sad news. Yesterday, news broke that Yoda, the winner of the 2011 World's Ugliest Dog contest, had passed away peacefully last Saturday in her sleep. Our thoughts and prayers are with Yoda's family at this time, but especially her family since we all know all dogs go to Heaven. For more coverage, read Petside's story!

Bear Bites Woman While Walking Dog: MSNBC

Imagine yourself walking your dog and politely disposing of his/her waste, when a bear runs up behind and bites you in the rear. Sounds like something out of a comedy, right? Only this event actually happened.

According to an MSNBC report, a Florida woman was bit in the rear by a bear after walking her dog. Authorities assume the bear was spooked by the woman's dog, an Akita Shepherd mix. The woman was taken to the hospital after suffering four puncture wounds. For more information on this story, read MSNBC's article!

Alleged Cat Killer on Trial in Virginia: Petside

A Virginia man is on trial for allegedly throwing his brown tabby cat into a kennel with three non-cat friendly dogs. As you can imagine, the result was not pretty, and has resulted in charges being brought against the suspected killer, Anthony Robert Ahrens.
