The Petside Digest: This Week's Must-Reads

Published April 15, 2011
Billboard Belts Out Dog Snacks: Method Shop We'll start this week's Digest by putting a spotlight on a bit of marketing genius from the folks over at GranataPet dog food. They've developed a campaign using a billboard that also acts as a check-in area for the social networking phenomenon FourSquare. When you check-in to the location via your FourSquare account, the billboard dispenses a small snack for your pup. Talk about creativity! Kim Jong-Il Apparently Crazy for Pups: The Chosunilbo According to a report over on The Chosunilbo, North Korea's crazed dictator spends hundreds of thousands of dollars importing pedigree dogs into his country for his own pleasure. This, of course, is in the midst of an on-going crisis in Korea in which there is not enough food for the country's starving people. Don't get us wrong: we here at Petside are pleased that this zany leader has a soft spot in his heart for our furry friends, and that he's not running some Mike Vick type dog-fighting operation. Kudos Korea. But really, is importing pedigree pups more important than feeding your own people? Maybe it would be if we lived on some other planet. But we don't. And it seems like someone's priorities are really misaligned. It's Puppy Love...Interspecies Style: PeoplePets It's that time of the week again, where we take a minute to win over our audience by dropping proverbial "cute bombs" on the Digest. Busch Gardens now has possession of a baby cheetah, and have introduced the cute cat to its first playmate: a 16-week-old Labrador pup. This has got be one of the most adorable stories the Digest has covered in awhile, so we advise you revel in it. If you'd like to partake in naming the pair, feel free to visit their Facebook page. Voting ends April 18th! Crazy Cat Behavior, Say What?: PawNation There's no denying it: if you are a cat owner, you're fully aware that felines have some pretty quirky habits/behaviors. Over on PawNation, one writer attempts to make sense of those behaviors. Check it out! Adoptable Pet of the Week: Saffron Saffron (pictured above) is a Shina Ibu mix. She is already spayed and house-trained, and is up to date on all her shots. Now all she needs is a home! Image Source: adoptapet.com
