Dog Wars Android App Infected with Virus: Pet MD

New breaking news for this week! Apparently, unnamed folks were still not satisfied with the name change and supposed "re-branding" of an app for Android phones (formerly known as "Dog Wars") that glorified dog fighting; earlier this week, it was found that an old version of the app in question (covered in a previous Digest) was infected with a Trojan Virus!

According to popular anti-virus company Symantec, the virus acts in three ways:

  1. First, the virus sends every contact on a person's phone a text message, reading, "I take pleasure in hurting small animals, just thought you should know that."
  2. Second, it sends another message which activates PETA's mobile alert service.
  3. Third, the virus replaces the word "BETA" in the app's menu with "PETA."

Talk about news for this week!

What do you think about this story? Was the person right for placing a virus on an old version of the game? What do you think of people that download the app?

Trending Pet Topic--Cat Ladders?: Pet Project Blog

Ever heard of a cat ladder? For some of us, this may be a new concept.

Pretty much, it's an arrangement of objects on a structure that allow a cat to playfully climb or descend heights. It's pretty adorable to see the pictures of some of these on the original blog Cat Ladders. What should be this week's news is the fact that some of these "cat ladders" are crazy tall. Check it out!

Looking to find out the goings on in the White House and check in on that crazy Portuguese Water Dog Bo? Petside's become your #1 source!

We got contacted by the White House again, who let us know that Bo made a special appearance in an interview President Obama recently did with Scholastic's Kid Reporters (if you look at the videos on the right rail, scroll down to "A Special Visitor."

Wondering if the President's got Bo trained well? Well, he gets him to sit and lay down, but he won't hang around too long with so much excitement going down. Nice to get a glimpse of Bo in action though for sure!

Actor Steven Seagal Sued for Dog Death: Petside

And, to round out the news for this week, we bring to you the news that actor Steven Seagal was being sued for the death of a dog which occurred during the filming of his new television series, Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Apparently, police raided an Arizona man's house in full riot gear with Seagal in tow on the suspicion he was running a cockfighting ring. Talk about being taken by surprise!

For the full details, check out Petside's story on the subject!

Adoptable Pet of the Week: Thyme

Thyme is an adult two-year-old domestic short hair mix hailing from the New Jersey area. As long as he's properly introduced (check out how to safely introduce new pets in your home), he will be fine with both cats and dogs! He's also up-to-date on all of his routine shots and spayed/neutered. Give Thyme a chance at a "fur-ever" home!
