In what should adjust people's perceptions of the breed, a pit bull has taken heroic actions to save her owner's life as she lay unconscious on a set of train tracks. Unbelievably, the dog took it upon herself to stand between an oncoming freight train and her owner, and took the brunt of the train hit rather than allowing her owner to take it.

Teacher Uses Dog Cones to Shame Students, May Lose Job: Fox News

Well, here's an odd one, and we'd be lying if we said we'd heard of anything like this before. Apparently, a science teacher in Florida has been using dog "cone" collars to jokingly shame her students when they commit minor classroom infractions. The cone collars, also known as the "cone of shame", are used to prevent dogs from chewing at certain areas after certain veterinary procedures. The teacher thought she could use them to jokingly shame her students, and the students found it funny. The school board, however, did not, and she may lose her job for her actions. Fat Cat Meow Passes Away: Petside

Also making headlines this week was our heavy feline friend Meow, who passed away late last Saturday. Meow first made media waves a few weeks back after he tipped the scales at a whopping 40 pounds.
