Uggie the Dog Retires: Petside
We'll start this week's edition of the Petside Digest by paying homage to one tremendous Hollywood dog that saw the sun set on his career this past week. That's right: Uggie the dog, renowned for his role in the Oscar-winning film "The Artist", has called it quits in the acting world. The pooch, who was approaching his 10th birthday, ensured his legacy will live on by cementing his paw print in a tile outside of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. We here at Petside would like to congratulate the pup on his well-deserved retirement, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors (or relaxations).
Hilary Swank Helps Animals and Children: ABC News
Actress Hilary Swank, known for her Oscar-winning performance in "Million Dollar Baby", is using her celebrity status for good. Swank, known as an animal devotee, is using her platform to fight for animal rights. While visiting Romania, a country with over 35,000 stray and homeless dogs, Swank announced she is starting a U.S. based charity to help pair animals with needy children, citing the mutual benefit both receive from the pairing.
