Petside Catches Up with Talon at Westminster!

More with Talon the Belgian Tervuren competitor, from Westminster! Petside caught up with Talon, the Belgian Tervuren competitor we interviewed last week, at Westminster after he showed on day one.

We talked to his owner Jackie Woehrle about the experience.

Q: Did Westminster live up to your expectations?

This is the first time I have ever done a Westminster show with my own dog and it was a lot of fun! It's really crowded, and it gets really hot in here, but it's a lot of fun.

Q: How is Westminster compared to other shows?

Compared to other shows it was much better. The shows I do aren't usually benched, so if you lose, technically you can pack up your stuff go back to your hotel room, watch a movie or go to dinner. But here you have to stay until eight o'clock and have the dogs available and let people touch and feel, which is something Talon absolutely loves. So he has no problem with this whatsoever.

Q: How did Talon do in the show?

Fabulous! I was very proud. How could I not be?

Q: Do you think you will come back next year?

That's going to be up to Talon's breeder Carole. I am actually looking forward to Talon starting his herding up again. He becomes my herding dog again.

Q: How did you feel watching him in the ring?

How do I explain that? I guess like a mom watching their child in a pageant! It was pretty cool. It was it was a lot of fun, and who would have thought we would be going to Westminster?

I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be standing here, ever. So this is a very new experience. If we never do it again I am happy to say we did it once. I am very proud of him.

Q: Is this Talon's first time in New York City?

Oh yes, it's his first time in New York. And we searched all over the place for a tree last night! He wanted nothing to do with buildings, he is a country dog! But once he found that tree he was very happy.
