IAMS has kicked off their annual Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive!
Despite Halloween not even having come yet, you are sure to have noticed by now that the holidays, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, are right on the horizon. Some retailers already have Christmas displays up in their stores, and others have gone so far as to air TV ads reminding us that these days will soon be upon us. With the holidays fast approaching and October being Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, IAMS has hopped into the fray in order to promote a cause that everybody can get behind: pet adoption.
Earlier this month, IAMS kicked off their annual Home 4 the Holidays initiative, a program that aims to place pets in loving homes throughout the holiday season. With pet adoption being perceived as a hot button topic when the end of the year rolls around, IAMS launched the initiative in order to educate potential pet owners about the benefits of adopting dogs and cats. The program is run in conjunction with the Helen Woodward Animal Center, and supports the Helen Woodward shelters in their efforts to help place pets in forever homes.
This year, Home 4 the Holidays isn't just helping pets find homes; it's also helping to feed them. The initiative has the goal to provide five million meals to pets in local animal shelters and rescues, and is doing so through an innovative new program called the Digital Dish Drive. Each day on the IAMS Facebook page, an adorable photo of a shelter pet is featured. Likes and shares of the photo garner food donations that help that individual pet and the animal shelter they hail from. The unique program provides invested animal lovers a chance to effortlessly help animals from the comfort of their own home.
New programs like the Digital Dish Drive are what have contributed to the continued success of Home 4 the Holidays. Started in 1999, this initiative has helped numerous pets find families, including over one million just last year.
The annual pet adoption drive kicked off in the beginning of October, and runs through the end of December into early January. Visit the Home 4 the Holidays website and learn more about how you can get involved.
