Ricochet reads up on ways to help out.
Its almost impossible for me to keep up with all the mind-blowing activities Ricochet, the famous SURFice dog, gets involved in.
So I must take this opportunity to thank her for sending me a most intriguing email the other day, announcing a project in which our readers can also participate.
San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders has issued a proclamation declaring Thursday, April 28, Pay it Forward Day and asks everyone around the world to get involved in the festivities!
Ricochet’s mission is helping others, which she does in her own inimitable, canine way. Of course, all of us who are acquainted with Ricochet are aware that she is such a philosophical and dynamic doggy! In fact, it was Ricochet who inspired Mayor Sanders by initiating the Pay it Forward proclamation, which the mayor signed, and she thanks him for setting this day aside. Of course, Ricochet, prefers to use the term “Paw it forward.".
Based on the novel by Catherine Ryan Hyde, Pay (Paw) it forward is a worldwide initiative. In her novel, a 12 year-old boy did three good deeds for others in need, asking only in return for them to pass on a good deed to three other people to keep the cycle of giving going forward.
To celebrate the occasion, Ricochet had wrist bands made carrying the message "Paw it Forward." Donations to charity will be made from the proceeds, in the spirit of pawing it forward.
Doing simple random acts of kindness, such as paying for the car behind you in a toll booth, or just opening a door for a stranger can be so much fun. It really makes you feel great. Ricochet also suggests rescuing an animal in need, babysitting for a friend, or helping a senior citizen—just a few things we can do in a list that is endless.
