Party Animal

Published November 19, 2007
My former client Salisbury was the consummate host at an evening garden party last summer. He entertained the crowd with lively dog park stories. He was an attentive listener: He kept an eye on his guests at all times: And he stepped away from the throng when natured called: Salisbury is a cultured dog-about-town who knows how to behave at social functions. How about your dog? Do you let your pooch hang with your guests, or is he banished to coatroom Siberia for the duration of the event? During parties my dog Zeke plays the crowd too well, and he manages to become the center of attention. He’s the guy who gets drunk and tells dirty jokes. My other dog, Sumner, detests social gatherings and hovers in the corner when guests visit, quick to jump up and grumble if anyone gets too curious about him. So tell us about your pets. Are they party animals like Zeke, or social misfits like Sumner?
