Olympic athlete Jeret "Speedy" Peterson - Aerial Skiing - talks about his mutt named Lillie

Olympic athlete Jeret "Speedy" Peterson was an Aerial Skier, well known for his incredible signature stunt, the Hurricane. He won the Silver Medal in the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. Unfortunately, he took his own life on July 25, 2011.

Before the Winter 2010 Olympic games, petside caught up with Jeret "Speedy" Peterson to talk about his mutt named Lillie

Pets: An Australian mutt named Lillie

Q: What kind of pets do you have?

I have a dog named Lillie. She is an Australian mutt, like a sheep herding dog. I don't train her as she is my mom's dog. I gave her to my mom for a Christmas present. Lillie came from a breeder that my uncle discovered. She isn't a purebred and not a show or competition dog, just a good friend.

Q: Does your dog train or travel with you?

I take her on walks and hikes when I am home in Boise, but don't take her on trips or competitions with me as I have too many things to focus on when I am away.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your dog?

I have always had dogs in my life since I was born. They always keep me company and put a smile on my face. She has some really funny characteristics and inherent traits like biting your ankles to get you to walk faster when she thinks you are going too slow!

Q: Are you involved in any animal rights groups?

I am not actively involved in animal rights philanthropy, but it is something that I do care about. I hate hearing stories of abused and or neglected animals.
