Newlyweds in England have chosen to donate their wedding gifts to a cat rescue shelter.

According to the Hebden Bridge Times, newlyweds from Hebden Bridge, a market town located in West Yorkshire, England, have asked their wedding guests to give the ultimate gift: donations to a cat rescue shelter.

Rather than having their guests give conventional gifts, newlyweds Thomas and Vanessa Wood only asked that their guests make donations on behalf of Haworth Cat Rescue, a shelter struggling to survive the global economic recession.

All in all, the couple donated 217 pounds, or the equivalent of over $350, to the shelter.

According to the shelter, the gift will be used to pay for the neuter / spay of five kittens.

It's nice to see that generosity towards animals is being lived out on a global scale.

What do you think of this story of generosity? Do you know anyone that has done anything like that?
