New CAT Behavior Show!
Published June 19, 2008
It’s about time! Television programs for years have promoted various d*g-theme shows, often about behavior and training. These have turned the on-air trainers into media personalities.
Often, highly respected trainers and animal behavior professionals have questioned the effectiveness and sometimes credentials of these media trainers. I’m pleased that today there are some very good d*g shows available, if you know how to pick ‘em.
But I’m even more pleased to see that Animal Planet now features a CAT behavior show! It’s called House Cat, House Call, and airs Saturdays at 9:00 am and Sundays at 7:00 am (E/P time). The show features three veterinarians (two are behaviorists).
Now it must be said that ANY television program cannot present the true reality of such things. Editing makes any behavior intervention success come too easily and look magical. I also suspect the veterinarians may not always be happy with the edits.
But I’m delighted that cat behaviors are being discussed on television by pros who know what they’re doing. And one can only hope this will educate more cat lovers that if kitty does “misbehave” they have options for seeking help. Bravo! You can find out more at the www.housecathousecall.com website.
