A Georgia man recently found his lost dog by identifying the dog by the sound of her bark. Editor's Note: This is not the dog mentioned in this story.

One Georgia man is counting his lucky stars. According to a report by USA Today, Shane Wilson lost his service dog, Lucy, after she jumped out of the back of his pick up truck a week ago. Upon losing the pup, Wilson spent the next six days looking tirelessly for Lucy, whom he depends on to conduct everyday activities.

After numerous false reports of Lucy's sighting, WIlson's prayers were answered when he received a call from his local vet after two women found the dog wandering alone near the interstate. They took the lost dog to the vet, who identified the pup immediately.

Upon identifying Lucy, the vet's office called Wilson to say the service dog had been found. Still skeptical, Wilson asked the office to have Lucy bark over the phone. Remarkably, he identified Lucy by the sound of her bark, and set out immediately to reclaim his dog. They were reunited, and in the USA Today video you can see the mutual excitement of both dog and owner.

Despite nearly a week of agony, Wilson's tale turned out, thankfully, to have a storybook ending.

What do you think about Wilson's story? Do you know your dog just by the sound of their bark? Tell us in a comment.

Dogs are not supposed to be riding in the back of an open truck anyway. It is against the law in the state of Maryland, and that goes for child to. I am glad that he found the dog, that the poor thing was resued by the two women before he was killed on the interstate, but I also know if the dog had not been riding in the back of a truck this never would have happened in the first place. My mother always said to use an ounce of prevention!!!!

Of course! And the meaning of particular sounding barks... No different then knowing a human loved one's laugh or a baby by their cry. (Or my goats by their na-na-naaa, horses by their subtle sounds.)

I'm glad his dog was found but I do not think it is right to have a dog in the back of a pickup truck.!~!~! His dog could have really been hurt when she jumped out.!~!~! If he doesn't have room in the cab then he should have a kennel in the back to put her in or at least she should have been on a leash & tied to something so she couldn't jump out.!~!~! Also what I find strange is that Lucy is a service dog.!~!~! Usually a service dog is trained to always be right by the owners side in case something was needed.!~!~! For a service dog to jump out of the truck & leave her owner is really odd.!~!~!

All the comments are ragging about the dog being in the back of the truck. Is that seriously all you got out of the story?Heck when we were kids WE were the ones in the back of the truck. It was fun.Sure it was dangerous especially by todays judgmental standards. We all make mistakes and put ourselves and our loved ones at risk at more times than we actually realize in life.Even those that point out others mistakes so readily. All I want to know is did you say "Lucy I'M Home" lol.

Putting your service dog (or any dog) in the back of your truck? Seriously? What is wrong with people?
