Laziest Cat Ever vs. Smart Seagull
Published July 1, 2010Since I truly believe there is no such thing as coincidence, for a reason I have yet to understand, the avian species seem to be flocking around me as of late. It is not only that I am dealing with my husband Marty's total frustration by the huge number of squirrels gravitating to his wild bird feeder, taunting the hungry flashy red Cardinals and plain brown Nuthatches trying to grab an easy meal. Folks, we are being eaten out of house- and- home, of birdseed. I am now additionally being inundated with daily email from friends who I suspect may be mocking me.
For example; just the other day I received at least a dozen messages with photo attachments of different birds, an assortment of off- the- wall bird cartoons, and silly bird -related jokes.
Are my friends trying to convey something to me about which I am clueless? Is the Universe setting me up for a new hobby? If so, I am glad that our wonderful veterinarian who takes such excellent care of our cats also specializes in caring for our feathery friends.
But the final straw was a video that arrived in my email box last week, sent by my dear friend Diana. Since she knows that cats are one of my deepest passions, and is acutely aware of our bird vs. squirrel crisis, my first reaction was defensive. I mean, come on... give me a break already.
Titled "The World's Laziest Cat," featuring a laid back feline and a cheeky seagull, this popular short video uploaded to YouTube by castratedcanine, received well over a million hits.
And after I stopped feeling sorry for myself, dusting myself off, I watched it and found myself chuckling. I had to appreciate Diana's subtle, albeit sometime sardonic humor and thank her for sharing it and offering me the much needed chance to lighten up!
So do take a moment out of your busy day to view the video, and enjoy a good belly laugh. After all laughter really is the best medicine, don't you think?
