Kitten in Slow Motion
Published February 18, 2011
Wiping my fevered brow, all I can say is "T.G.I.F". For some strange reason, it seems this past week has been an extraordinarily busy one, leaving me little time to just relax and play with our two kitties. But they sure let me know that my behavior is totally unacceptable, especially when they feel that outside events have infringed on my down time which is always showered upon them.
But they are not the only ones that suffer when my schedule looks like a convoluted bird's nest. I love to spend time watching them play, savoring their grace while awed by their physical prowess as they bound and fly into the air playing with a feather flier, or chase the elusive red dot on the carpet, showing off their incredible hunting skills. There is nothing that rivals the beauty of a cat in motion.
But since these little felines move so quickly, we sadly never get the opportunity to actually visualize the extent of their lithe, acrobatic body movements while hunting for their "prey."
So I was in awe the other day while watching the video "Kitten in Slow Motion" sent by a friend, which features a kitten playing in a garden of a house in Warsaw, Poland, belonging to a friend of the video maker. It was uploaded to YouTube by TPSFilmStudio.
And even though watching the incredible footage is captivating, at the same time, with its soothing music, I think it's a totally relaxing experience way to end the week. Filmed entirely on the Phantom HD with frame rates ranging from 400 to 800 frames per second we get to see precisely just how a playful and happy kitten really moves. The footage was shot by Michael Szymczak and edited by Arek Arciszewski.
For further viewing pleasure, a gallery of the kitten is available here.
