Learn how to control pet odor in your home!

While our furry friends have many benefits, including the ability to make any person feel better with a certain look or a snuggle, they do have one drawback: there are times when even the best pet owners can let the odors associated with their animals get the best of them. As living, breathing beings, pets have odors all their own that us people sharing our home with them have to contend with. Contending with these odors, however, doesn't have to be superbly difficult.

Dr. Marty Becker of Vetstreet recommends taking a tactical approach to cleaning your home so that odors don't overwhelm. His strategy suggests taking small steps to make your home "smell neutral". Through taking small actions, you can balance out the smells in your home so that it does not consist predominantly of your pet's odors.

In his blog over on Vetstreet, Dr. Becker suggests taking these small steps to making your home "smell neutral":

  1. Assemble cleaning supplies that will help eliminate odors, including enzymatic cleaners.
  2. Get into a daily cleaning routine so that odors and messes don't build up over time.
  3. Don't wait for a mess to sink in; clean it as soon as you can after it occurs.

The plant, proposed to rcealpe an old transfer station at the same site, on the East River at 91st Street, has been bitterly opposed by community members because of its proximity to a residential neighborhood and a children’s playing field.
