Jack the Cat Euthanized

Published November 8, 2011

Jack has passed on but his story will have a lasting impact.

Jack the Cat, the cat that was infamously lost by American Airlines, has passed on.

Late Sunday night, he was euthanized, ending his suffering as he was unable to recover from his wounds due to his prolonged malnutrition and development of fatty liver disease.

At Petside, we'd just like to send our condolences to Karen Pascoe, and send our thoughts in this time of need.

At the same time, Pascoe is most certainly deserving of praise. Her unorthodox efforts and drive to find her furry friend revolutionized the way we will look for our lost pets. In addition, her efforts and development of a dedicated Facebook following became the platform for helping numerous other animals find homes.

Even though he has passed, the tale of Jack the Cat and the lasting impact his story will have will surely not be forgotten.

Already Jack's supporters are in motion to create  "Jack the Cat's" Law, forcing airlines to put GPS (or similar technology) tracking devices (collars, legs bands, or harness, etc) on family pets traveling in cargo holds.

There is a link to the original story on the left-hand side, maybe relax a little bit?

Such a sad tragedy after poor Jack had been 'lost' and lonely, and away from his people and companion. Can the airline really replace Jack? No.....it's travesty. Bless you Jack - R.I.P. - no more pain.

WTF? How and where was the cat lost and found? Why don't you at least link to the original story?

PATHETIC.
