iPad Game for Cats
Published January 7, 2011
With all the amazing new fangled electronic products out on the market today which are designed to enhance our lives; making it so much easier to keep in touch with family and friends, to get directions to places we have never visited, and which give us access to a huge variety of online shopping malls, I gotta tell you that I often find it very hard to resist temptation and end up buying products that I probably can live without.
This said, I love my little smart phone with its built-in minicomputer. It has all the bells and whistles I could ever wish for. Without having to bother booting up my laptop, I get my email, my "tweets" and Facebook messages. After years of using what a dear friend refers to as a "stupid" phone, it was a breath of fresh air to have the Internet available at my finger-tips no matter where I happened to be.
The only thing I regret is my new server doesn't offer my all-time favorite ring-tone; the adorable and highly realistic "meow" sound bite which drove our kitties crazy whenever I received a call. The first time they heard it, both of them immediately started running throughout the house, hunting under couches and beds, to find the kitty "intruder" that dared to make its presence known. It was a hoot to watch their antics.
When Hush Puppy manages to sneak into my office, and I am playing an online game, he becomes riveted to the screen, trying desperately to catch one of the little balls that float up and down, taunting him. Worried that he will accidently tear my LCD screen, even though I know how badly he wants to play, of course I cannot let him indulge himself in this manner.
But the other day I ran across an item advertised online that really caught my interest.
Apparently I am not the only purrson that lives with cats who are mesmerized with animated computer graphic games. It seems that Apple has come up with a solution for those of us who must deny our cats the pleasure catching that tempting virtual mouse who scampers across our computer screens.
According to a recent article on LA Times blog, available for cat lovers is a free application for the iPad. "The World's greatest Video Game- (for cats-not for humans). With a sturdy screen that cats cannot destroy, the app is touted by its creator as "All the fun of your cat chasing a laser pointer without any of the work!" The app is available for download.
I sure wish Santa had left me an IPad under our holiday tree.
To get an idea of how feline attracting this video game really is, and the excellent quality of the graphics, watch the kitty playing with it on the video uploaded to YouTube by Jashmenn.
