Potty training your pet at any age can be difficult. However, when they become an adult, it can be extra tedious. According to the Sacramento Bee you have to go back to square one and teach your pup properly. However, you have to be sure that your dog has a behavioral problem and not a physical problem; check with your local vet for a complete checkup.

Once your dog is cleared of any medical situations refraining their behavioral training, house train your adult dog like you would a puppy. Sacramento Bee recommends being more diligent with your adult dog because there will be some “un-training” as well. You must also thoroughly clean any territory marked by your pup. Use any enzymatic cleaner (available through pet supply outlets) and it will eliminate the smell that invites the repeated business.

To teach your dog what’s right the Sacramento Bee recommends spending a couple of weeks ensuring that he has nothing but success by never giving him the opportunity to make a mistake. For more details check out the full article.
