It goes without saying that getting ready for the upcoming holiday season is fun and exciting, but we all know how hectic it can be to rush around doing that last minute shopping, putting up decorations and wrapping gifts. And as delightful as it is to meet and greet people we hardly know at home parties, at the same time it can certainly be quite unnerving. If we are feeling overwhelmed, can you imagine what our pets might be experiencing with all the uncustomary activity around the house? You may remember that darling duo, Jack Nazarian and Jane, his adorable 8-month-old Vizsla-pit bull mixed breed puppy featured on Petside a few weeks ago. They captured my heart! So to get some ideas about the plans folks and their furry companions are making to ease holiday stress, I thought it would be enlightening to have a chat with Jack, an Iams Home 4 the Holidays Adoption Angel, to see if he and Jane had any helpful suggestions for people with pets. During our discussion, I learned that Jane, in particular, had some great ideas to share. Despite this being her very first Christmas, because she had an extraordinary Thanksgiving with Jack and his family, I think she is right on the money! I must tell you that she is one very excited doggy. Jack told me that Jane had recently asked him, "If Thanksgiving was so great, what will happen on Christmas? Presents?? Treats?? Yum!!" She can't wait to get belly rubs and those toys that she adores so much. While Jane feels blessed and grateful for her new family, she keeps thinking about all those amazing animals she left behind, languishing in shelters and longing for permanent loving homes. She urges folks to adopt from a shelter. A great place to start is with Iams Home 4 the Holidays 2010. The program's goal is to get 1.5-million orphan pets adopted, worldwide. It's not too late to enroll and it's never too late to adopt your new best friend! And speaking of adoptions, Jane stresses the importance that folks spend time with their potential adoptees, to find out if there is the right chemistry between them. Since Jane has everything she desires, she wants to share her fervent holiday wish with all her buddies still living in shelters. She asks that people donate a bowl of food for shelter animal with a simple click of the mouse. Read all about Jack and Jane by visiting their blog! The only downside to this story is that there are still so many animals in shelters. That little puppy face is so adorable. I'm on a fixed, limited income (Social Security) most shelters charge more than my budget allows. I hope we get an increase next year so maybe I can save up enough to get a shelter pup.

And I thought my little Whodat (Beagle mix) was the only dog who got that ecstatic look on his face when he got that kind of belly rub!

What a sweet & contented face. I always add additional dollars at check out from my pet store to shelter animals. It is the least we can do to help.

Due to illness I have been out of the loop for most of the week. I hope all animal lovers will take this to heart and donate to animals less fortunate than some. Happy Holidays to Jack and Jane.

A little bit of money goes a long way in supporting shelter animals. We should all donate what we can to help the less fortunate animals. Even a few dollars can make a difference. Stores like Petsmart, Petco, etc. make it easy to donate while you are there purchasing items for your own pets. Thanks for spreading the word Jo. I'm going to get busy clicking!
