A hero dog saves a puppy from drowning in a pool in the viral video below. Yet, some viewers raise question as to why the heroic actions were needed.

Move over Superman, there’s a new hero in town!

Watch in the Petsami video below as the hero dog saves a puppy from potentially drowning in a swimming pool.

Seeing her helpless pup in distress, the dog jumps into the pool and, using her nose, tries to lift the puppy out of the pool. When that fails, however, she runs out of the pool, ultimately lifting up and dragging her pup to safety.

While many are praising the Golden Retriever as a hero, there are also people condemning those filming the video for failing to take action to save the puppy—which may have been much quicker than having the mother dog save her pup.

Comments on the video raise the question of whether the puppy was in fact thrown into the water at the start of the video in order to set up footage of our hero dog. Such an act could severely traumatize the puppy, not to mention, place a damper on the seemingly heartwarming nature of the video.

The divide amongst viewers is clearly illustrated through the top comments on YouTube as the top ranked comment notes how the video borders on animal cruelty, while the next highly rater comment deems any calls of animal cruelty unwarranted.

Regardless of the motives behind the video, however, it is clear that this Golden Retriever exhibited fierce courage and natural retriever intelligence in her quick actions to save the pup. The fact that she is a hero is not even debatable.

Crulety...the person filming didnt bother to help and was even laughing. The poor dog was turning around as if to say..help me. I am sure the puppy was thrown in. Stupid people....they dont deserve to have smart caring dogs as those.

Why was someone filming rather than helping the puppy?

I found this video disturbing. Someone was filming this and I believed staged this. This would have been very tramantic for the puppy. People have become so descentised to cruelity. Any normal, caring human would have jumped in the pool to save the puppy. I consider this inhumane and the people should be charged with animal cruelty and fined.

This was a fabulous and amazing rescue. It was such a thrill to see it. Wow. The mother dog was really remarkable. She went so fast, and she so quickly figured out what to do. No person could have jumped into the situation because the dog acted so quickly and so intelligently. The mother dog took care of everything so beautifully and so effectively that there was no need for a person to jump into the rescue. This was a great and inspiring video. To whomever filmed it, thank you for doing so.

So do you really think the people had their video camera going right when the puppy fell in the water? Think about it. No, it was staged. I agree the adult dog was amazing.

ikr.. I think puppies are cuter than baeibs, because baeibs scream every five seconds and dogs just to a high pitched sound that is so cute.. PUPPIES FTW!

I think this was staged and the people shooting the Video should be cited for animal cruelty. That poor puppy and the courageous Mother don't deserve to be used for their owners warped entertainment.
