Help Save More Lives. Take the Challenge.
Published April 12, 2010
As a volunteer at my local animal shelter, I am totally psyched about this opportunity.
The ASPCA is challenging shelter volunteers, leaders and communities in a friendly competition to save more lives this year than last. And if that isn't enough to sign-up your local shelter to participate, here is a bonus--the shelter that saves the most lives this year wins $100,000.
And we all know how badly shelters need money like that!
The $100,000 winner will be the shelter that not only saves 300 more animals between August and October 2010 than it did in 2009 during that time frame, but the shelter that also saves the most additional lives during that period.
The ASPCA will also give $25,000 to the shelter that best engages and inspires their community to save the lives of homeless animals.
This challenge is open to shelters large and small. If your local shelter took in less than 5,000 animals in 2009, they can team up with another shelter to participate.
Registration is now open and you have until June 30 to sign-up. But, don't dilly-dally. Only the first 50 shelters to register are eligible to compete--so get movin'!
