The Guide to Owning an Oriental Shorthair
Published July 9, 2008
Does an Oriental Shorthair cat own you, or are you considering opening your heart and home to one of these fabulous felines?
If you fall into either category, I highly recommend a charming book, by Lynn Miller "The Guide to Owning an Oriental Shorthair Cat.”
A dear friend, Lynn and I have known each other for over 34 years. While we now live far apart, we manage to continue our friendship by email. My husband and I moved to Florida from New York several years ago, so sadly, Lynn and I have not seen each other for quite awhile.
The majestic Oriental Shorthair
Years ago, I bred Oriental Shorthairs and Siamese cats. I still have many fond memories of remaining up all night with Lynn, my favorite feline mid wife, while we anxiously awaited the arrival of a litter of kittens into the world, spending time at cat shows together, attending club meetings and promoting the Oriental Shorthair breed when first introduced in the United States.
What I enjoyed most about Lynn's book is her conversational writing style. As I read it the first time, it was as if she were sitting in my living room, sharing her wide variety of Oriental Shorthair cat experiences and it was almost as if she could read my mind in anticipation of any question I might have concerning the breed
Lynn offers her readers a wealth of information about the history of the Oriental Shorthair breed in a clear, concise and entertaining manner. As a resource book it contains just about everything you would wish to know about these enchanting cats. It was hard to put the book down as it held my attention and inspired me to want to read more.
The book is filled with many interesting facts, which range from how to obtain an Oriental kitten or cat, feeding and grooming tips, essential veterinary care and Internet resources for Oriental Shorthair lovers, to how to show your cat. All of this and more is discussed in this little gem of a book, which received a Muse medallion from The Cat Writers Association.
Even if this breed of cat is not in your plans for the future, should you are looking for a special gift for an Oriental Shorthair lover, this book will become a welcome addition to their library. You may preview the book here.
