The actress and former Mrs. Brad Pitt received 29% of the vote, with a surprising 32% of women voting in her favor. Following Ms. Aniston is actress Halle Berry, former wife of Tiger Woods Elin Nordegren, and Golden Girl Betty White.
The monthly poll was started by the magazine and CBS in order to uncover "the different opinions and beliefs of Americans that [didn't] show up in the most polls," publisher Graydon Carter told the New York Times.
But what pollsters and newshounds don't know and celebrity dog watchers do, is that these lovely ladies are all animal lovers. So gents, if you are in hot pursuit of one of these gals or any leading lady, for that matter, you must love dogs.
"Not only must you love dogs, you must have an understanding of women through their dogs," cautions Cooper Lawrence, relationship expert and author of The Cult of Celebrity: What Our Fascination with the Stars Reveals About Us (skirt! 2009). According to Lawrence, "A pet can tell a lot about your personality."
For example, Cooper is the owner of an Italian Spinone that competes on the show circuit. When asked whether she likes gentlemen with a bit of international flair and if she is sporty, playful and competitive, she admitted, "Yes!"
So potential suitors, here are a few animal facts to help you woo the most eligible women out there:
Jennifer Aniston
Whether your gal pals were wearing Team Angie or Team Jenn tees, all dog lovers share a strong bond with the former Friends star.
Sharing her home with Norm (corgi-terrier mix), Dolly (white German Shepherd) and a rumored new rescued Cockapoo (name unknown), Ms. Aniston needs a guy who won't mind walking, picking up poop and traveling with dogs.
Halle Berry
After many failed marriages, including her recent relationship with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, baby mama Halle Berry needs to find a guy who is loving, mature and allergy-free. As the pet parent of two Maltese (Polly and Willy) and two cats (Play Dough and Spanky), don't apply to be her guy if you are allergic to animals.
Elin Nordegren
Former model-turned nanny-turned multi-million dollar heiress, Elin not only left her Florida home with her two children, but also with her family's three dogs.
As the owner of a Border Collie, Golden Doodle and Poodle, she will eventually be looking for a man who is intelligent and athletic, yet faithful.
Betty White
As the oldest host of Saturday Night Live, 88 year-old Betty White continues to keep busy with her TV series Hot in Cleveland and writing and movie commitments. White, the owner of a Golden Retriever named Pontiac, is a supporter of animal charities and has been devoted to the Morris Animal Foundation for over 40 years. If she had the time to date, the gentleman would have to be passionate about pets and be willing to coast with Betty with the top down.
