Grooming Needs By Coat Type: Short Coat

If your dog has a short coat, you might just have minimal grooming needs. An example of a dog that has a short coat is a Welsh Corgis or a Labrador retriever. A short coat tends to be dense, thick and straight, providing water resistance and warmth to the dog.

Grooming needs include once-a-week brushing in order to remove tangles and mats in your dog's fur. Although it doesn't seem like it will, a short coat will mat easily without regular care. While grooming, you can check your dog for any skin problems, like fleas, ticks or sores.

For dogs with the short coat, it's a good idea to have a slicker brush for removing tangles, a bristle brush for removing loose fur and a comb for brushing through the feathery fur at the back of the legs.

Thanks for the tips. Great advice but I want to ask you if you can recommend a particular brand of dog accessories for grooming our dogs?
