Fall Fashion Week started yesterday on 7th Avenue, but many furry friends had a fashion-oriented night of their own before these festivities began. Royal Animals and Royal Pooch, two canine clothing manufacturers, teamed up with Unleashed by Petco and Stonehenge Realty to present “Furry Friends on the Runway”, a fashion show for dogs.
The evening welcomed dogs and their owners to flaunt their canine couture and fashion style. At the event, Stonehenge resident and owner of Royal Animals and Royal Pooch, Susan Traub, showed her popular doggie apparel for Fall 2012. After, dogs, cats and their owners of all ages participated in a guest fashion show in which they competed for $1500 in prizes.
Canine Couture designer Anthony Rubio and his ChiChi, Bogie (Paw Perfect); Ruben Santana and his painted purple Poodle-mix, Dana (Posh Paws); and Scotch, a Shih-Tzu (New York Paws) each won titles and $500 gift cards to Unleashed by Petco. Honorable mentions also went out to Million Dollar Baby, a blind cat and cancer survivor; Cubby, a West Highland Terrier outfitted in an Alexander McQueen/Vivienne Westwood-like dress; and a Yorkie accessorized with Annie cast members.
Michael Stern, Creative Director of Stonehenge, noted that the “event combined fashion, entertainment and man’s best friend during one of the most exciting times [of the] year.”
