Exotic Animals Enjoy iPad Video Game for Domestic Cats

Some exotic cats enjoy video games geared towards entertaining domestic cats.

Dr. Hush Puppy (our highly intelligent lilac point Oriental Shorthair) is totally mesmerized when he catches me playing my favorite online video games; he is simply fascinated with swiftly moving objects flying across the screen, the hallmarks of Ping Pong or Bejeweled. The moment I launched the game, Dr. Hush Puppy was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. But I’ll bet a catnip mouse that Hush Puppy isn’t the only feline fascinated with these games, and that is probably why the iPad Game for Cats and Kittens was developed.

While the iPad Game for Cats and Kittens is targeted to entertain domestic housecats, the folks at the Conservators' Center located in Mebane, North Carolina, were curious to learn if the game would be as alluring to exotic cats as it is to their domesticated cousins. Their burning question was quickly answered as soon as they brought the game to some of their big cat residents to play with. Amazingly, the big cats were enthralled by the game, playing it with gusto.

My hat’s off to the Conservators’ Center for their efforts to find creative resources to enrich their big cats’ environment. The non-profit facility’s mission is to preserve threatened species by rescuing needy wildlife, promoting responsible captive breeding of selected species, and providing educational programs and worldwide support.

Check out the delightful video uploaded to YouTube by Jashmenn and enjoy a moment of delicious eye candy by watching the big cats playing with the iPad Game for Cats and Kittens. Featured in the video are lions and tigers, servals and a caracal. The smaller "house size cats" making an appearance are the beautiful Geoffroy's cats.

If by any chance your kitties viewed the video and want to get in on the fun, the free download is available for both the iPad and iPhone.

It’s interesting to find how challenging the content side is for some

I have seen our Bobcats here in the wild play like this with real prey. What a great way to occupy the feline mind and give them enrighment.

That was too cute!!! Thanks for that adorable video entertainment! After all the disaster footage of NJ, that was a welcome sight. :)

How entertaining this video is and so much fun to watch. Our cat does not have one of these electronic devices, but I think he is hinting about getting one for Christmas. How cute.

Like laser pointer, but modular! Anyone wanting to give my cats an iPad and this game, please contact me. :) Seriously, those are some FINE felines and cats are extremely intelligent. They love stimuli like this!

What a delight to see all those "big" cats enthralled by the ipad!! I had a Siamese who did watch TV with me. She would sit on the edge of my knee and lean over to touch the screen whenever any kind of major movement occurred. The funniest was the night I was watching some wildlife show, and a lion roared. She woke up from a sound sleep, raced over to my knee and, then intently watched the rest of the show. I wondered if the lion was a friend/relative of hers???
