Dogs vs cats: who do Americans like better, cats or dogs? An Associated Press-Petside.com poll found out!

Dogs vs cats: who's smarter, and who's more popular, cats or dogs? It seems like dogs and cats are always being pitted against each other.

So who does win the hearts of the most people, cats or dogs? A poll of American adults aimed to answer that very question.

A new Associated Press-Petside.com poll asked pet-owners and those without pets how much they like dogs and cats.

Participants could respond with "like a lot," "like a little," "neither like nor dislike," "dislike a little," or "dislike a lot."

Dogs vs Cats: The Statistics

While 3 out of 4 adults (74%) said they like dogs a lot, only 2 out of 5 respondents (41%) said they like cats a lot.

Only four percent of adults said they dislike dogs "a little" or "a lot," while more than 1-in-4 (26%) said they dislike cats "a little" or "a lot."

Of all the groups that answered, married men were the most likely to say they dislike cats.

So why the difference between love for cats or dogs? In the battle of dog vs cats, do cats get a bad rap?

Listen people, idk what the hell goes on in your minds... well some of you, but just as a few of the commentors noted, both animals have their advantages and disadvantages along with different personalities and amount /quality of training /care. From what I've seen in my life from the many pets I have owned, cats are usually more survival like and ttend to be a lot cleaner, and most of the time their loving cuddly creatures when raised right, atleast to their owners. However they wouldn't usually try to attack a burglar or play fetch with you, or be your best friend in that way, but they are mor independent and many people love that along with their personalities. Dogs are also amazing pets, with tons of different breeds to fit anyones liking. And as long as raised right like cats become very kind and loving creatures, that snuggle with you in bed, or stay and stand watch, or whatever you please. They are usually more loyal and protective over their owners vs cats and tend to be messier sometimes, depending on breeds, and also drool, which is not their fauly, they are less independent and require a companion, whether human or another dog. Either way they bith differ and are alike, and their is way too much for anyone to explain in a comment...

BTW I believe having a dog AND a cat is a much better experience than one or the other, people should think about that
