A dog that once graced the silver screen in the form of "Padfoot" (the dog form of Gary Oldman's character Sirius Black) from the Harry Potter movies is now in need of a new home after being found at an English dog rescue this past weekend.

According to a Fox News report, Berry, the German Shepherd in question, was given up by his former owner, stuntman Paul Thompson, after he could no longer care for the dog. Thompson went on to say that he could no longer care for Berry and another canine companion, Porridge properly due to constraints from his job.

"I found myself spending a lot of time away from home," Thompson said in the Fox report. "The dogs needed more attention than I could give. It was a difficult decision to make but one I had to accept was best for the dogs."

Along with Thompson, both Berry and Porridge starred in TV and movie roles.

The English rescue center was working quickly to try to find new placement for the dogs, but has not been able to find the pups a new home so far.

You would think someone from the movie set would have wanted to adopt such a talented dog. What a shame no one cares about the future of this dog. Hope he finds a good home.

It stated he was found at an English dog rescue... that's not a shelter, that's a rescue. Oftentimes, dogs must be rehomed and rescue organizations can do a better job than individuals. I'm not saying it was the best thing to do, but it certainly wasn't the worst.

What a POS Paul Thompson is. He got tired of the dogs, and dumped them. Once the money making went away, so did a home for these vulnerable dogs, who through no fault of their own, have been abandoned. Sick, disgusting movie makers...take advantage, use them then throw them away....I hope Thompson never finds another day of work.

I agree, this man is nothing more than a POS. When the money is exhausted he tosses away the animals. He could have done something more. I hope the dogs are in good hands, though. This is happening all the time, pet owners, when tired of the animal, literally toss them outdoors to fend for themselves. They are not lost, the animals were intentionally thrown out. This is happening way too often. It is easier to toss them outdoors than to either pay a shelter to euthanize them or just to take them in. I hope he receives the same fate, karma is a witch.

Sounds to me like he did the right thing for the dogs. Circumstances can change in life, and better that the dogs go to a home where they'll get the attention they need and deserve, something he recognized that he was unable to provide.

Typical-you would think he would have at -least tried to find a good home for the dogs instead of abandoning them not knowing if they would or did get a home, how can anyone do this to these animals they love and trust you and in the end they are -betrayed-by those who profess to love you -sad.
