A Georgia dog is credited as a hero for saving his owner's life after waking him up when a fire broke out in his home.

According to an ABC report, a Georgia man was saved by his dog when a fire broke out in his home. Sadly, the dog, who is being proclaimed a hero, died in the act of saving his owner.

Scott Dunn of Marietta, Georgia, credits his deceased Boxer, Duncan, with saving his life.

Dunn states that he was woken in the middle of the night by his dog, who was incessantly pawing at him. Initially, he ignored the warnings, thinking that Duncan just wanted to go out. When he finally awoke, however, he found his house filled with smoke.

Instantly, he grabbed Duncan by the collar and tried to get outside. When he made it to his front door, more flames seemingly exploded throughout the house.

"The minute I opened the door, it was like the house exploded," Dunn said.

In the confusion, Dunn lost Duncan, and only realized once he made it out of the house. Firefighters later found Duncan curled up in Dunn's bed, the place Dunn said Duncan would go when he was scared.

In a tone that all animal lovers can appreciate, Dunn seems truly heart broken about the loss of his friend, asking compassionate animal lovers to pray for Duncan.

Dunn is certain that he wouldn't be living if it weren't for Duncan's efforts.

This is a story of true love for his master, he knew enough to make him wake up and get out. Unfortunately, Duncan wasn't able to make it so he went to the safest place he knew, on his masters bed. I believe Gods hand delivered him from the flames so he didn't suffer and Duncan will be waiting for his master at the gate when they will reunite once again. May God Bless him and keep him safe until that time comes.

The words "Man's Best Friend", don't even describe the love between Duncan and Scott Dunn. Such a heart breaking story!
Duncan will be waiting for Scott, up on Rainbow Bridge when his time comes.
May Our Father give Duncan an extra treat, a pat on the head, and a "Good Boy, Job well done"
God Bless you Duncan!

We all grieve differently, and for different lengths of time. When the time is right for Mr. Dunn, I hope that he honors Duncan by adopting a dog from a rescue group or from an animal shelter.

Having been a dog rescue volunteer for many years, I have heard many people who have lost their beloved dogs sat that they wished that they had adopted another dog sooner. Not one person has ever told me that a dog was adopted too soon.
