Does your pet look like a Grammy nominee?

To kick off the opening of their newest clinic in Los Angeles last Saturday, and in recognition of the upcoming 54th annual Grammy Awards Presentation, Banfield Pet Hospital, the world's largest veterinary practice, held a spectacular and novel contest, "Does Your Pet Look Like a Grammy® Nominee?" The event was held in partnership with PetSmart, Inc.

Judging the contest was Drew Lachey, a multi-platinum recording artist and Dancing with the Stars winner and performer with the band, 98 Degrees. At stake for three precious pups was a year of free veterinary care from Banfield Pet Hospital. No matter who won, however, the contest was a win-win for all involved, with 20% of the new Banfield location's opening weekend revenue being donated to the Los Angeles SPCA.

Participating pet parents were invited to dazzle Judge Lachey with their pet’s celebrity status by showing off how closely they resembled one of the 2012 Grammy® nominees, walking them down the red carpet at the new La Cienega Banfield Pet Hospital, located inside the PetSmart store at 330 S. La Cienega Blvd.

Commenting on the event, Lachey said, "I love pets and it's no secret I'm a fan of music. As the judge of the Grammy® nominee pet look-alike contest, we're celebrating both the pets and music greats in L.A., and having fun at the same time."  He then added, "And the best part--we know there won't be any long speeches from the winners!"

Fortunately for the contestants, who were of course all decked out in their finest furs, the paparazzi were held at bay as the contestants strolled down the red carpet. Judge Lachey was kept very busy comparing their overall look to the 2012 nominees including Taylor Swift, Adele, Cee-Lo Green, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Katy Perry and host L.L. Cool J.

Among the canine hopefuls appearing, were Noodles, a Maltese who came in costume dressed as Nicki Minaj, Mason the Pomeranian, who came dressed as Bruno Mars and  Dolce, a Maltese dressed up as Katy Perry.

Among the other activities in which pet parents were invited to participate was a grand tour of the new clinic facility, meeting the veterinary staff, “Ask-the Vet”, entering a dog trick training contest, having a photograph taken by a professional while walking their pet down the red carpet, and an opportunity to enroll in the PetSmart PetPerks® program.

Do you think your pet resembles a famous person, including any of the Grammy nominees?  Tell us about it in a comment.

No Grammy kids here although when the two girls get going the growling, hissing, and general chaos they stir up sounds like a music video gone very wrong.

No, they don't have a grammy look. But when they are very sick, they do have a certain look in their eyes. Last week my black lab had that look and I took her to the vet. I told the vet about that look she had. To make a long story short, she turned out to have lymphoma, and we lost her yesteerday.

To be polite, I'll just say, "NO" with no hyperobole.
