Do dogs lose baby teeth?

Q: Do dogs lose baby teeth? I guess what I'm asking is this: do pets lose teeth and get new ones like humans do?  My 3-year-old cat has already lost one tooth and he has a loose one. Is this normal?

A 3-year-old cat already has an adult set of teeth. It sounds like your cat has dental disease, which would cause bad breath and teeth to fall out.

Have your veterinarian check the teeth. Loose teeth are painful and your vet may wish to clean and remove diseased teeth from your pet.
