Digital Delights for Cats

Digital games designed for cats on devices like the iPad and iPhone are capturing the attention of felines across the nation.
Ok, I confess! I’m totally addicted to electronic gadgets. And while I really try my darndest to resist the temptation to add another item to my rather eclectic collection, after playing around with a friend's iPad2, my resolve went out the window completely. I hang my head in shame.
Since my passion for digital delights is rivaled only by my love for our two Oriental Shorthairs, Sir Hubble Pinkerton and Dr. Hush Puppy, last week when I ran across There's a Cat App for That published on Petside.com, I could hardly contain myself from rushing to the app store to download it. Let me tell you! I was not at all disappointed!
The cats went bonkers over the iPad game. They chased the flashing mice and bright colored balls racing around the screen. Dr. Hush Puppy was smitten with the game and even racked up an amazing score. On the other hand, Hubble, who cannot fathom the reason why any intelligent feline would spend hours playing with any old laser toy, quickly got his moves down and aced his level in record time. Nate Murray, the game’s designer, created a cat magnet extraordinaire. A game customer reviewer commented, “My cat won’t give me my iPad back.”
Best of all is the fact that the iPad game is free. An upgraded version is available at a nominal cost. And if your kitties get tired of the game, Murray recently added “Paint for Cats”, another iPad game for felines.
Cat lovers owned by an iPhone or an Android Smartphone will get a huge kick out of the Cat Meow ring tone. It features mewing sounds made by a kitten with an escalating volume, which totally fascinates most kitties.
And for humans who love Simonscat and video games for the iPhone or iPad, there is an “app for that” as well. Newly released by Simonscat is Simons Cat in Chat game where players do battle with the ill-mannered hedgehog. It is really fun and easy to play, and a bargain at 99 cents.
