Cat Writers Conference

Published September 8, 2008
Have you ever wanted to turn your love of cats and dogs into a writing career? Or maybe you just wanted to write as a hobby, and use your fur-kids as inspiration. You just might want to attend the 15th Annual Cat Writers’ Association Conference, this year being held in Atlanta, Georgia November 20-23 (http://www.catwriters.org/annual-info.html). The conference is open to anyone interested in pet writing and will feature two days of professional seminars with nationally known speakers. The conference is our once-a-year time to get together to learn, network, be recognized, be inspired and celebrate with our peers, editors and agents and our sponsors. In addition to the writing seminars, CWA also will offer a few health-focused topics with presenters who are leaders in the veterinary world. You’ll learn how to market your books (if you’ve written one), and learn how to write a book (if you aspire to do so). Sessions on writing humor, nonfiction, fiction, and more are available. I’ll be participating on the CATalyst panel, which I’ve posted about several times in this blog. I’ve also a confession to make--I’m one of the original founders of CWA, and so feel like a proud momma cat and just want to show off my baby. So I hope lots of cat lovers and dog lovers decide to attend. If you need any more incentive--the conference is held in conjunction with the Cat Fanciers Association International Cat Show (http://www.cfa.org/catlanta/). You’ll get to visit the show, admire some of the most gorgeous felines in the world, and shop for cat-themed items including a book-signing event with CWA participants.
