If you're uncomfortable with cat carriers in the car, try a cat car seat.
Whether you're taking a short drive, or a trip cross-country, don't forget about your cat's transportation safety. Studies have shown that in the event of an accident, pets can suffer life-threatening injuries in even minor accidents when they aren't restrained. Using a cat car seat is a great way to protect your cat during travel.
A cat car seat offers room for your cat to move around, windows for a view, and in some car seats there is a storage compartment big enough to hold bowls and a small litter box. The car seat container is well ventilated and most include a soft fleece lining to comfort your cat.
Much like a regular car seat, the cat car seat fits into existing safety belt systems so the car seat is safe and secure while you travel.
If you love to travel with your cat, make sure he's as safe on the road as he is at home! Don't forget to wear your seat belt, and make sure your cat is buckled in too with a cat car seat.

WHERE CAN I PURCHASE THIS CAR CAR SEAT ON THIS PAGE ?
THANK YOU,
SALLY THOMAS
Using a well made cat car seat with a short built in tether is much safer than a leash to a seat belt long enough to allow a cat to sit up on a pillow. If there's a collision or sudden maneuver the cat on a leash or longer tether can be slung or whipped extremely hard. Also, having a pet in the front seat is dangerous unless you can manually turn off the passenger side airbags since they can deploy with enough force to break a pets neck.
My cat cries and cries when we take him in the car, even for short distances-- I wonder if something like this would be better for him (instead of his crate, which may be making him feel trapped or just cramped, and it doesn't allow him to see out very well).
Yes, I think it would. One of my cats gets very cranky in his carrier. We can always count on him to poop and sometimes vomit to show his displeasure. The vet said he might get carsick because he can't see out. So, I started attaching his walking harness and leash to the front passenger seat belt, and now he loves to go for car rides to the pet store or on short errands with me. We haven't tried a long trip yet though. I would like to get him a car seat like this one, but it's really bulky. I will probably go with just a higher quality and safer car harness. He can sit on large pillow or something so he can see out. I have been doing with my younger cat since I got him, sans pillow, and he loves it and never gets sick. I think we should treat our cats more like dogs or children and stop sticking them in cages!
we are taking to our 3 cats with us to California. And we were looking for a device that looks like a car seat for cats. Is there such a device?
